The Jamaica National Heritage Trust (JNHT) in association with the Jamaica National Bicentenary Committee (JNBC) will host the fourth in a series of heritage lectures at the Northern Caribbean University, Manchester Road campus on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 10:00 am. Guest speaker will be Dr. Clinton Hutton, lecturer in political philosophy and African diasporic philosophy culture and aesthetics at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, Jamaica. Dr. Hutton will speak on the topic ‘Haiti & the Ending of the Trade in Africans and slavery in the Caribbean’.

This year marks the bicentenary of the abolition of the Transatlantic Trade in Africans and the JNHT, as part of its public education programme, is partnering with the JNBC in a number of activities to commemorate the milestone. This is the final in a series of public lectures that have dealt with such topics as ‘Why Reparation Matters’, ‘Reparation: The Debt’, The Trade in Africans and the legacies of the trade in Contemporary Jamaicans. Members of the public are invited to attend.
