Rockfort Mineral Bath Reopens After Major Upgrades
You can visit today!
The Jamaica National Heritage Trust (JNHT) is delighted to announce that the Rockfort Mineral Bath—a cherished Kingston landmark and National Monument—has officially reopened following extensive renovations.

Rockfort, part of a historic 17th-century complex overlooking Kingston Harbour, transformed after the devastating 1907 earthquake when mineral springs emerged. For generations, locals and visitors alike have flocked here for its restorative waters.
Reopening Ceremony & Updates
At the ceremony on Thursday, 21st August 2025, the Honourable Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, declared:
“We have delivered.”
“I see families coming again to this location as they did so many years ago before the facility was closed. I can hear again the pitter-patter of little feet of our children running around … and I can feel the spirit of communities as they come from near and far to experience the magical feeling of a mineral bath.”
The event followed a 25-year lease agreement signed in 2024 with Carib Cement, drawn up to guide the site’s upgrade, management, and operations over the long term. As part of this public-private partnership, Carib Cement has committed J$57 million over five years, with J$16 million spent completing Phase One of restoration works.
