Parish: Kingston

The Monument to the Rt. Excellent Sir Alexander Bustamante was designed by Errol Alberga and was completed in October 1979.

The Monument is arch-like in appearance, narrow at the crest and gradually widening as it approaches its springing. The tomb, which lies in the centre is finished with local marble and the floor with institu terrazzo.

The arch is a symbol of great strength, elegantly simple and graceful, yet powerful. This in essence was Sir Alexander Bustamante.

The structure, which includes the tomb, is accessible to everyone because this was the way he lived and he always supported the deep tenets of democracy. Seats have been incorporated into the design for those who wish to sit and meditate.
